Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, organized a two-day program in Umrangso under its flagship initiative DIKSHa (Dalmia Institute of Knowledge and Skill Harnessing).The event began with a valediction and certificate distribution ceremony, where 30 young trainees from the Assistant Electrician trade were felicitated for successfully completing their training.On the second day, a job fair was organised in collaboration with the ICC Model Career Center, Guwahati, to ensure employment opportunities for the trainees. Participants engaged in career counseling sessions and took part in on-the-spot interviews for entry-level roles in various companies with starting salaries of Rs 15,000.
The event was graced by esteemed guests including Mr. Biju Kalita, Placement Head – Northeast, Mr. Jatin Hazarika, Senior Placement Officer – Assam, Ms. Gloria Gohain Jyrwa, Senior Trainer – Northeast, Mr. Mazid Hussain, Placement Officer – Assam,who encouraged and guided the trainees at the job fair.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ambuj Srivastava, Unit Head, Umrangso, DCBL said, “This initiative addresses a critical need for skill-based opportunities in Assam, where many rural and semi-urban youth face barriers to quality education and employment. Skill development is not just about employability, it is also about dignity, independence and future readiness. Through DIKSHa, we are committed to transforming potential into progress by providing the targeted support young people in the region need to truly thrive.”
DIKSHa is one of Dalmia Bharat Foundation’s most effective community initiatives, focused on equipping youth with industry-relevant skills to help build a future-ready workforce for India. It currently runs 23 training centers across different locations – out of which 5 are in the Northeast. To date, 22,625 individuals have completed training through DIKSHa with many earning monthly incomes between INR 10,000 to INR 24,000. The program not only enhances employability but also promotes self-reliance and economic stability in rural and remote areas.
