The very first 5G service in India is going to be provided by Airtel not Jio. Airtel demonstrated their 5G services before Jio on 28th January at Hyderabad.
Hyderabad: On 28th January Airtel Demonstrated their 5G services at Hyderabad’s Tech City. It won’t be available to the public use yet as it still needs government’s clearance. With the introduction of 5G a new phase in India’s telecom services has started.
Airtel managed to beat it’s arch rival Reliance Jio in the race to bring 5G to India. Countries like USA, South Korea, Japan and China has already brought 5G before India. In USA: Verizon, in South Korea: Korea Telecom, in Japan: NTT Soft Bank and in China: China Mobile these are the telecom companies who brought 5G in their respective countries.
“We have demonstrated that our network is fully ready for 5G as soon as we get government approvals” said Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO of Airtel, at Hyderabad’s Tech City while demonstrating Airtel’s 5G Services. He also added “we have been the first in India to pioneer new technologies in our quest for empowering Indians everywhere”
On the other side Reliance Jio were the ones people were expecting to bring 5G first and Jio promises to bring it on during the second half of 2021. Back in 2016 and Jio launched its 4g services it created chaos in public as it was providing free 4g internet to all its customers. At first it was unlimited internet then it was 4GB per day and later it was 1gb per day. After Jio stopped it’s free services yet it’s prices were cheap and reasonable making it easy for almost all the Indians to access 4G internet easily. Jio’s this move shook every other telecom services in India and every other network started to compete with Jio in terms of Price and Speed.
If Airtel manages to get government clearances and brings 5G before Jio it would be an epic showdown between 2 arch rivals.
