Army rescues 300 more tourists stranded in North Sikkim due to landslides.

The troops of Striking Lion Division, Trishakti Corps Sunday assisted stranded tourists at Chungthang in North Sikkim to cross over the temporary bridge for further move towards the state capital Gangtok, it said. They were provided food, resting place and medical comfort by the Army.The Indian Army rescued 300 more tourists Sunday who were stranded in the North Sikkim district due to landslides and roadblocks, an official statement said.

During the rescue, a person who fell unconscious was immediately evacuated by ambulance and taken to the nearest Army Field Hospital for further treatment.

The DC thanked the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) , Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Army and district officials for the successful evacuation of the tourists.
