Guwahati, 15th February 2025: Established with the vision of fostering and promoting pickleball in Assam, the Assam Pickleball Association (APA) has shared its journey, recent achievements, and its ambitious plans to expand the sport across the northeastern states of India in a press meet in Guwahati.
APA has grown into a pivotal organization dedicated to nurturing talent and creating awareness about this fast-growing sport. On the occasion of the expansion announcement, winners representing Assam on the 4th IPA were also felicitated. APA is committed to making pickleball a prominent sport in the northeastern region and the associations invites all stakeholders, including athletes, coaches, sponsors, and the media, to join in this exciting journey.
Addressing the press meet, Ms Nazneen Rahman, Secretary Assam Pickleball Association said, “ The hard work and dedication of APA athletes were recently showcased at the National Pickleball Championships, recently held at Bennett University, Greater Noida. where the Assam contingent delivered an outstanding performance. Where the state brought home 2 medals, one Silver by BABITA MOHAN LANGTHASA in the 50+ Womens Singles Category and one Bronze by NAZNEEN RAHMAN & BABITA LANGTHASA in the 50+ Womens Doubles category solidifying Assam’s presence on the national pickleball map. These achievements reflect the rigorous training, support, and development efforts undertaken by the association.”
Building on these successes, APA is now focused on expanding its reach to all northeastern states. The association aims to:
1. Establish Regional Training Centers: Setting up state-of-the-art pickleball facilities in key northeastern states to provide professional coaching and infrastructure support.
2. Organize Inter-State Tournaments: Creating competitive platforms for players from different states to hone their skills and gain national recognition.
3. Youth Development Programs: Introducing pickleball in schools and colleges across the region to identify and nurture young talent.
4. Community Engagement: Conducting awareness campaigns, workshops, and exhibitions to popularize the sport among diverse age groups and communities.
5. Collaboration with Government & Sports Bodies: Working closely with state governments and sports federations to secure funding, resources, and policy support for the sport’s growth.
About Assam Pickleball Association:
The Assam Pickleball Association is registered under the Govt. of Assam Registration Act XXI of 1860. And also affiliated with the INDIAN PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION (IPA) the apex national body. It was founded with the goal of introducing and institutionalizing pickleball as a mainstream sport in Assam. Since its inception, APA has worked tirelessly to build an inclusive community of athletes, coaches, and enthusiasts. Through strategic partnerships and grassroots initiatives, APA has laid a strong foundation for the sport’s growth in the state.
