Guwahati, February 17, 2024: It was a moment of pride for Assam as well as Modern English School, Kahilipara whose class 12 student Raksha Boruah representing Assam at Khelo India Women’s Taekwondo League won silver medal on 16 February. The event took place at The Assam Rifles Dronacharya Sports Complex in Laitkor, Shillong.
Raksha Boruah got selection trail at Nehru Stadium Guwahati to represent Assam during Khelo India Women’s Taekwondo League in Shillong from 14 February to 17 February 2024.
The opening ceremony of the event on 15 February was graced by the esteemed presence of Lt General P.C. Nair, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, PHD and Director General of Assam Rifles, who inaugurated the league, adding prestige to the occasion.
Expressing joy over Raksha’s win Abhijit Gogoi, PGT-Physical Education and Taekwondo Coach, Modern English School, Kahilipara said, “It is yet another feather in the cap as Raksha Boruah wins the medal at Khelo India Women’s Taekwondo League. We are happy to see our students shining in sports along with studies. This win will serve as an inspiration for other students to come and contribute significantly to the sports culture of the nation.”
The event with around 500 participants from different states showcased the exceptional talent and skills of the participating athletes.
