There will be no Ranji Trophy this season says BCCI. Instead of Ranji Trophy BCCI is all set to host Vijay Hazare trophy.
The BCCI will not conduct the first-class cricket championship Ranji Trophy this season, this is the first time in 87 years where Ranji Trophy tournament will not be held. The BCCI is all set to conduct the Vijay Hazare Trophy. BCCI will also organize U-19 national One Day tournament including Women’s national 50-over tournament as per a letter sent by BCCI secretary Jay Shah to the state units.
BCCI president Saurav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah are enthusiastic for the blue riband tournament.
“I am extremely happy to inform you that we are going to conduct the Senior Women’s One Day tournament simultaneously with the Vijay Hazare Trophy and follow it up with Vinoo Mankad Trophy Under-19. This has been decided after having received your feedback on the domestic season 2020-21,” Shah wrote a letter to state units, which is in possession of PTI. He also wrote in the letter that it was a very difficult task to plan domestic season in this post covid world.
“As you are aware, we have lost a lot of time and consequently, it has been difficult to plan the cricket calendar on account of the precautions that are necessary for the safe conduct of the games,” Shah wrote. He also mentioned that the preparation for England-India series are going well which will start from 5th February next month. He gave his best wishes to team India for the upcoming England series and hope they will give their best like they did in the last series against Australia.
The next match of India against England will held at M Chidambaram Stadium Chennai.
