ESET, a global leader in cybersecurity, today released the ESET Enterprise Cybersecurity Report 2026, which found that 85% of organisations in India experienced at least one AI-related cyber threat in the past 12 months.

Commissioned by ESET in partnership with Blackbox Research, the study surveyed 400 cybersecurity decision-makers across Indian enterprise, including large enterprises and SMBs. The findings also revealed that nearly all organisations (99%) are already using or piloting AI across at least one function, across customer service, document processing, business analytics, software development, risk management and threat detection.

“AI is becoming deeply embedded in how businesses operate. As we give it access to more data and greater influence over decisions, organisations must ensure the right oversight and safeguards are in place. Trusting AI also means knowing how and where it is being used,” said Parvinder Walia, President of the APAC region, ESET.

 AI is reshaping enterprise cyber risk

As AI becomes embedded across business functions, most organisations are introducing safeguards, but visibility into how AI is being used remains limited. Only 56% have implemented measures to monitor AI tool access and outputs, highlighting a gap in organisations’ ability to oversee and manage AI-related risk.

AI-related threats are emerging both from within organisations and from external attackers. Four in ten organisations (40%) reported employee misuse of generative AI and around five in ten (48%) reported data leakage through AI platforms. At the same time, attackers are using AI to manipulate human judgement and target everyday decisions. AI-generated phishing and impersonation attacks were the most commonly reported AI-related threat (48%), followed by AI-enabled deepfake or voice cloning attacks (47%).

Swift response to cyber incidents is crucial

Beyond AI-related threats, eight in ten Indian organisations (80%) experienced at least one major cybersecurity incident during the past year, while 44% experienced three or more incidents. Data exfiltration, cloud environment breaches and business email compromise were the most common incidents reported.

The bigger challenge, however, was responding once an incident occurred. While 77% of organisations said they were able to detect and respond to threats within 24 hours, delayed detection remained one of the top challenges, cited by 55% of respondents. More than half (54%) cited limited internal resources, while 53% reported a lack of visibility across environments as some of the key challenges.

The findings point to a potential gap between organisations’ confidence in their cyber resilience and their ability to consistently detect and respond to threats. While 95% of respondents said they remain moderately or very confident in their organisation’s ability to withstand and recover from a cyberattack, repeated incidents and persistent detection and visibility challenges suggest that confidence needs to be supported by measurable capabilities.

“In cybersecurity, speed changes the outcome. A threat left undetected for hours can quickly become a business-wide incident. Organisations need continuous visibility, rapid response and access to deep expertise to contain threats early and protect business continuity,” said Walia.

No single dominant cause of cybersecurity incidents.

Cyber incidents among Indian enterprises are being driven by a broad range of weaknesses rather than a single dominant cause.

Lack of visibility across the IT environment was cited by 42% of respondents as a leading cause of cybersecurity incidents, followed by third-party or supply chain compromise (40%), weak or stolen credentials (38%) and limited security resources (38%).

The findings suggest that organisations are being exposed across multiple points of their technology environments, making visibility, people and processes as important to resilience as the security technologies themselves.

Training is widespread, but human risk persists

Although almost all enterprises are providing cybersecurity training at least annually, employee awareness and training remained one of the leading cybersecurity challenges, cited by 45% of respondents.

When asked about barriers to improving security behaviour, 44% cited a lack of employee engagement, while 43% said cybersecurity training materials were not engaging enough.

Separately, a shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals and the rapidly evolving threat landscape were cited among the top cybersecurity challenges by 42% and 39% of respondents respectively.

“Phishing and social engineering continue to demonstrate why the human layer of cybersecurity cannot be overlooked. As AI makes malicious communications more convincing and personalised, organisations need to continuously build employee awareness through relevant training and realistic simulations. Technology can stop many threats, but a well-prepared employee can help stop the one that gets through,” added Walia.

Security priorities are shifting as AI adoption grows

As AI, cloud platforms and connected technologies reshape enterprise environments, organisations are expanding their cybersecurity priorities beyond foundational controls. The next phase of investment is increasingly focused on capabilities that provide greater visibility, specialist expertise and faster response. At the same time, the impact of cyber incidents remains significant, with around one in six (15%) reporting significant financial losses.

Managed Detection and Response (MDR) was the most widely planned cybersecurity capability over the next 12 months, with 84% of organisations currently using or planning to adopt it. Cyber insurance is also gaining attention, with 57% already being covered and 32% planning to obtain coverage. However, 97% of organisations reported challenges in obtaining or maintaining cyber insurance, with 50% citing stricter security requirements as a challenge.

“Cybersecurity is now essential to keeping businesses running. As AI and connected technologies grow, organisations need to understand where their risks are, react quickly when something goes wrong, and adopt new technology with confidence,” concluded Parvinder.

The ESET Enterprise Cybersecurity Report 2026 was commissioned by ESET and conducted by Blackbox Research in Q2 2026. The study surveyed 400 cybersecurity decision-makers across India, representing organisations of varying sizes and across a wide range of industries and verticals. The research examined current cybersecurity challenges, enterprise resilience, AI adoption, evolving security priorities and approaches to managing cyber risk.

New Delhi, 7 February: Inaugural Chapter of Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav: A cultural odyssey unveiling the richness of Northeast India, a four-day cultural extravaganza, will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, from the 8th to the 11th of February 2024.The event timings are scheduled from 10 AM to 8 PM. The entry to the event is free.

The event is being organized by the Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region managed through its CPSE, Northeastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC). This event is being held as a part of Udyan Utsav 2024 at Amrit Udyan inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan premises.

As an ode to the rich cultural heritage of the Indian Republic, Rashtrapati Bhavan will be celebrating the diversity of India through its initiative ‘Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav’. This would be celebrated in seven chapters over the coming years as a biannual event, each focusing on a different geographical region of India – North-East, North, East, West, South, Central, and Union Territories, with the first chapter being dedicated to honouring the Ashtalaxmi, the eight culturally rich states of the North-Eastern Region.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Monday while addressing a programme on ‘Security Beyond Tomorrow: Forging India’s Resilient Future’ emphasised, ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership of 10 years has worked to eliminate the shortcomings of 70 years’. Shah also launched the ‘ORF Foreign Policy Survey’, on this occasion.

It is an outcome of Modi’s foresight and Amit Shah’s politics of ‘Antyodaya’ that in the past 10 years, millions of common people who were deprived for years have received the real happiness of freedom. After independence, for decades, corruption, nepotism, and appeasement had become obstacles in the country’s development. Known as the ‘Chanakya’ of modern politics, Shah believes that if the borders of the country are not secure, then the country cannot be secure, as border security is the country’s security. Due to Modi’s vision and Shah’s policies, from poverty eradication to health, space, investment, and internal and external security, India has become extremely strong in every sector as compared to before.

Responsible for creating a new identity of Indian politics, the popular leader, Shah’s claim in Modi’s upcoming third term, India will achieve the goal of being the third-largest economy, is going to be proven correct. Central Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Amit Shah, addressed the inauguration ceremony of the 5th International and 44th All India Criminal Science Conference at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) on Tuesday, stating, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the government has undertaken more than 50 decades of transformative work in the last 10 years. Justice will now be available, affordable, and accessible with the use of technology as prescribed in new laws in the new India.”

Under the leadership of visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, the Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, proposed new laws in India, amending the laws previously made by the British. The earlier laws aimed to secure British rule and punish Indians, whereas the new laws have been framed with the fundamental principle of justice. It’s significant to note that the term ‘punishment’ was associated with the previous laws, whereas the new laws emphasize ‘justice.’ Shah believes that the mandatory visit of a forensic science officer to the crime scene for crimes punishable by seven years or more will simplify investigations and ease the work of judges. With technology’s assistance, the criminal justice system’s challenges will be overcome, making India’s legal system the most modern in the world within 5 years.

Amit Shah, a strategist in Indian politics known for eliminating the mindset of servitude, has established a system where more than 9,000 forensic science officers will be trained every year in the next 5 years. It is also assured that with the use of technology in the new laws, justice will be available, affordable, and accessible. In the next year, 9 campuses of NFSU will open across the country, playing a crucial role in preparing resources for forensic science in the criminal justice system.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah addressed the valedictory session of ‘Vibrant Gujarat Summit’ in Gujarat. On this occasion, Shah expressed confidence that, ‘India will stand proudly in front of the world by becoming the third largest economy during Modiji’s tenure as Prime Minister for the third time.’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had had envisioned ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ two decades ago and the result can be seen today. The role of ‘Vibrant Gujarat Summit’ is going to prove important in building a self-reliant and fully developed India. Through ideas, innovation and investment, ‘Vibrant Gujarat Summit’ has strengthened the economy of Gujarat as well as the entire country. For decades, the Modi-Shah duo lived in Gujarat and worked to develop the Gujarat model, based on which, the citizens handed nation’s baton to Modi. Prime Minster Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are effectively shouldering the responsibility today. In a fervent display of patriotism, Amit Shah, the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, launched the “Tiranga Yatra” campaign as part of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Sunday. In his address, Shah emphasized the monumental struggle undertaken by our forefathers to secure India’s independence, highlighting their unwavering dedication to this noble cause. 

“The sacrifices of our ancestors have left an indelible legacy for the youth of our nation.” With profound respect for the martyrs, Shah called upon the entire country to ensure the success of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign by hoisting the Indian flag in every household. This act would commemorate the Indian flag from August 13th to 15th as a symbol of the nation’s pride, honour, and glory.

With a population of 60 million and nearly 10 million households, Gujarat possesses the potential to transform into a land adorned with the tricolor, resonating patriotism and unity across the nation. Shah urged citizens to celebrate the “Azadi ka Amritkaal” from August 15th, 2023, to 2047, the 100th year of independence. This vision sets the collective goal of building a self-reliant and prosperous India. 

As torchbearers of the ‘Meri Mati-Mera Desh’ program, youth from across the country will convene in Delhi, presenting soil and the tricolor to the Prime Minister. Shah underscored that just as the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” ignited the flames of patriotism, the ‘Meri Mati-Mera Desh’ initiative will solidify our commitment to a developed and self-reliant India soon.

Over the past nine years, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has achieved remarkable developmental milestones. Numerous campaigns have been launched to instil the spirit of patriotism in the hearts of its citizens. The collective efforts of Modi and Shah have nurtured a robust sense of national pride among the masses on their journey to elevate India’s status.  

From 1857 to 1947, millions of patriots sacrificed their lives to secure India’s liberation, resulting in the nation evolving into the world’s largest democracy. This journey has paved the way for 75 years of progress. Furthermore, the Modi-shah duo made efforts to immortalize unsung heroes and significant locations tied to the freedom struggle, that shaped the nation’s identity.  

Over the past nine years, India has gained global recognition and currently stands as the 5th largest economy worldwide. During his two-day visit to Gujarat, the Home Minister inaugurated and dedicated various developmental projects, thereby further solidifying the state’s progress.

A male cheetah died at the national park in Madhya Pradesh today, making it the eighth big cat casualty there in nearly four months.
The African cheetah, Suraj, was found dead at the Kuno National Park early this morning.

Officials said they are trying to ascertain the exact cause of Suraj’s death.

On Tuesday, another male cheetah, Tejas, was found dead at the national park. The feline’s autopsy had revealed that the cheetah was unable to recover from a “traumatic shock” after a violent fight with a female cheetah.

On March 27, a female Cheetah named Sasha died due to kidney ailment, on April 23, Uday died of cardio-pulmonary failure and on May 9, Daksha, a female cheetah, died after a violent interaction with a male during a mating attempt. Two cheetah cubs died of “extreme weather condition and dehydration” on May 25.

Suraj’s death is yet another blow to the Centre’s cheetah reintroduction programme launched in September last year, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier, the Centre had denied any lapses behind the deaths of the six cheetahs. “There is no lapse behind any of the cheetah deaths. Even in the case of the deaths of the three cheetah cubs, global wildlife literature clearly mentions 90% per cent infant mortality among cheetahs,” said an official.

In May, South African wildlife expert Vincent van der Merwe had predicted more cheetah deaths and said that the reintroduction project is going to see an even higher mortality, when the cheetahs would try to establish territories and come face to face with leopards and tigers at the park.
