The most prestigious awards ceremony Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) awards were held on 20th February.
The awards season of 2021 has started with Dadasaheb PhalkeInternational Film Festival Awards honoured the best in film, television, music and OTT platform. Nora Fatehi, Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Sushmita Sen, Kiara Advani etc. were the recipients.
Deepika Padukone won the best actress award for her extraordinary performance in Chhapaak which was based on the story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal.
Akshay Kumar won the best actor award for his awesome performance in Laxmii, which is the remake of hit Tamil film Kanchana (2011).
Kiara Advani got the critics choice best actress award for her powerful performance in Guilty. Guilty was directed by Ruchi Narain and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Kiara wrote on Instagram “My First Critics choice Best Actress award for #Guilty 🙏🏼 Thankyou for this prestigious honour🙏🏼Thankyou @karanjohar @ruchinarain @somenmishra @apoorva1972 @dharmaticent @netflix_in and my entire team of Guilty! And to all you amazing people for rooting for me, my heart is so full,”.
Sushant Singh Rajput, who died by suicide last year, was conferred the critic’s best actor (male) posthumously for his outstanding contribution to Hindi cinema.
Award for the best film went to Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior which ended with the biggest box office collection in 2020.
Anurag Basu got the best director award for black comedy, Ludo, featuring an ensemble cast, including Abhishek Bachchan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra and Rajkummar Rao.
Director Hansal Mehta’s blockbuster show Scam 1992 got the best series award.
Bobby Deol received the best actor in a web-series for Ashram, directed by Prakash Jha.
Kunal Kemmu received the best actor in a comic role for his amazing performance in Lootcase.
