Following the completion of a statewide survey, India will soon have its own standard body sizes for the apparel industry, with only the finishing touches left to be done, Union Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal announced recently.However, he said, it will take some time to standardise the size of Indian shoes.The faculty members of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, who conducted the survey travelling to every state, have done very good work.
A presentation (of the survey) was made before me a few days Goyal said during a press conference held in New Delhi.Presently, both international and domestic brands follow US and UK standards of clothing sizes, which obviously don’t match standard sizes height and weight of the Indian population.
Customers will be able to choose items easily based on their own dimensions and it will result in the clearing up of the size misunderstanding and this can make businesses make more revenues and e – commerce industry .
