England is all set for their test match against India. Monty Panesar former player of England said Jofra Archer and Josh Buttler might be troublesome for India.
The test series between India and England is about to start from 5th February 2021. Both the team are prepared for the test series. In an exclusive interview with Vikrant Gupta on sports tak, the former cricketer of England, Monty Panesar talked about some important issues of England team. Panesar answered some of the questions regarding the upcoming series. The first test match will be played at “MA Chidambaram Stadium” on 5th February.
When Panesar was asked “what would be more difficult for England? To face the spinner like R. Ashwin and K.Yadav or bowl against a solid batting line up?” He answered that he feels that the challenging task would be to bowl India because they have some good batsman like Rohit Sharma, C. Pujara, S. Gill who played extraordinary cricket in his debut series against Australia and specially after Virat Kohli, who will face the bowlers after a long break. The biggest problem of England team is their spin department as we know Dom Bess and Jack Leach are inexperienced spinner. So it would be a challenging task for them to stop player like Kohli, Rohit or Pujara.
The next question was asked “who would be the most effective player for England?” Monty answered Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler could create problems for India. Specially Jofra Archer whose bowling speed of 150km/h and everyone knows he played extremely well in IPL 2020. Then comes Joe Root, whose record against India is tremendous.
Monty Panesar was also asked about the playing 11 for the first test match. He replied that all the three fast bowlers which is Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer and James Anderson should play the Chennai test match with one spinner.
The next question was asked to Monty “Will it be challenging task for the English batsman to face the Indian bowlers?” In which Monty replied, Yes off course because India have good pace and spin attack who can bowl well at any Pitch specially it’s very difficult task for any batsman to face the Indian spinner in India and we can’t ignore the pace attack of India specially Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj who gave extraordinary performance in the last test series against Australia.
Lastly Panesar was asked about the biggest headache of England in which he replied England’s Batting specially the top order are inexperienced so it would not be a piece of cake for England to face bowlers like Ashwin and J. Bumrah.
Previous England played a test match against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium which was held from 22 January to 25 January of 2021. England defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets.
Their next test match is going to be against India at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium Chennai. The match will start from 5th February 2021.
