Guwahati, August 15, 2023: 77th Independence Day celebration at Modern English School, Kahilipara was a patriotic extravaganza today. The event commenced with the flag hoisting by Director, Modern English School symbolizing nation’s unity and freedom. The NCC parade by the students showcased discipline and national pride, leaving everyone inspired followed by soul-stirring patriotic song which filled the air with evoking strong emotions. Stirring speeches by the Director, Mr. Pankaj Das, Principal Mrs. Jonali Das and student Ms. Kripanjali Sarma of class XI highlighted the significance of the day, urging everyone to cherish our hard-fought independence. During the event, 3rd issue of Modern English School’s newsletter -The Academia was also released in the presence of students, teachers and parents. Cultural programmes by the students marked the end of the celebration which reminded everyone about shared heritage and the sacrifices made for our nation.
The Pre-Independence Day celebrations at Modern English School, Kahilipara started from 9 August with organising a self-defence workshop at the school premises specially designed for girl students from classes 6 to 12. The workshop aimed at hands-on training, including physical exercises, self-defence simulations, and informative discussions.
Empowering girls with self-defence abilities ensures their safety and instils a sense of self-assuredness and strength. The school’s effort to commemorate Independence Day with such a workshop highlights the importance of individual freedom and security.
As a part of Pre-Independence Day celebrations, the school also organised inter-house skit competition for students from class 6-12 on topics like fighting superstition, injustice done during talent shows, caste discrimination etc. Total eight groups took part in the completion from Manas, Sonai, Kaziranga and Orang house in Junior and Senior group category.
