Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday raided 12 locations in four
Kashmir districts
— Kulgam, Bandipora, Shopian and
Pulwama
— as part of its probe into a
terror conspiracy
by newly-floated offshoots of proscribed Pakistan-backed terror outfits in Jammu and Kashmir.
The locations raided were residential premises of hybrid terrorists and overground workers linked with the newly formed offshoots and affiliates of the banned terror outfits, said an NIA spokesperson.
“The terror conspiracy under investigation relates to plotting by the banned outfits in physical as well as cyberspace to unleash violent terror attacks in J&K with sticky bombs, IEDs, and small arms, etc.,” the NIA said in a statement. These organisations, supported by their masters in Pakistan, have been conspiring to commit acts of terror and violence by radicalising local youth and mobilising overground workers to disturb peace and communal harmony in J&K, it added.
“Premises of sympathisers and cadres of these organisations were also searched extensively during the raids,” the spokesperson said. These cadres and workers were under the NIA’s scanner for their involvement in collecting and distributing sticky/magnetic bombs, IEDs, funds, narcotic substances, and arms and ammunition, besides spreading violence and terror in J&K, the statement said.
Several digital devices containing large volumes of incriminating data were recovered by the agency during the exercise, the spokesperson said, adding that these would be thoroughly scrutinised to unravel details of the terror conspiracy.
