Shillong: The Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme (IPPI) 2021 will conduct in the district from today onwards.
The office of the District Medical and Health Officer, East Khasi Hills will perform the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) 2021 across the district of Meghalaya from 9 am to 4 pm on February 1. The vaccination drive will be followed by a house-to-house search and cover the activity till February 3, an official statement given by the state health and family welfare department.
“The goal of the programme is to eradicate Poliomyelitis and to vaccinate all children under 5 years of age against polio virus in the district and the state in general,” the release read.
In 2019 it was conduct from 8th March throughout the district of Meghalaya. This year it is also organising by the State Health Department of Meghalaya. The health department requested all the parents to bring their children below 5 years for vaccination. Not only the health department but also Headmen, NGOs, Church Leaders have urged to the people in ‘Join hands’ for the vaccination drive.
Again, State Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek, has inaugurated the Rangshken Health sub- centre under Mawphlang Community Health Centre (CHC) in the presence of local legislator Samlin Malngiang and State Director of Health Services (DHS) Dr A Ward DHS (MI).
The health centre also stated that the government is providing the vaccine at a very accessible, affordable and quality healthcare services to the citizens, especially to the economically weaker section of the society for the protection of the children from poliomyelitis by opening more and more health centres in the districts of Meghalaya.
