The much awaited film 83 finally got a release date. The Kabir Khan directed film is about India’s first World Cup win under the captaincy of Kapil Dev in 1983 which is coming to the theatres on 4th June.
In Instagram Ranveer shared “June 4th, 2021 !!!! 🏏🏆 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. See you in cinemas !!! #thisis83”
Actually the film was scheduled to release on April 10, 2020, but the release date was postponed due to Nationwide lockdown for Covid19.
There were some rumors that ’83’ will release on OTT platform and OTT platform offering Rs 143 crore to the makers of ‘83’ but Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar refused all this nonsense and told PTI, “There is no truth in this. As producers and even the director we all are on the same page that we want to wait for theatrical release for next few months.”
In the film ’83’ Ranveer Singh will play the character ofthe former captain of Indian cricket team Kapil Dev, the film also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar, Chirag Patil as Sandeep Patil, Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath, Jatin Sarna as Yashpal Sharma, Nishant Dahhiya as Roger Binny, R Badree as Sunil Valson and Pankaj Tripathi as their coach PR Man Singh and Deepika Padukone will play the role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev.
