The North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd. (NEHHDC) concluded its Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Program (ESDP), organized under the ESDP Scheme of the Ministry of MSME, with a grand valedictory session held on 7th March, 2024, at NEHHDC Craft Promotion and Experience Center in Garchuk. Under this scheme, NEHHDC conducted 100 Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs (EAP) and 50 Entrepreneurship cum Skill Development Programs (ESDP) across 31 districts in the North Eastern Region of India.
The program, benefiting more than 6000 individuals, engaged enthusiastic entrepreneurs who underwent a 6-week comprehensive training, mentorship, and practical exercises to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and foster innovation. Dr. Sriparna B Baruah, Advisor at NEHHDC, offered insights into the achievements of the ESDP Program, emphasizing the establishment of both individual and group enterprises, alongside the creation of cooperative societies. Dr. Baruah also highlighted the establishment of market linkages and identified clusters for supply chains.
Brig. R.K. Singh (Retd.), Managing Director of NEHHDC, expressed his delight at the overwhelming success of the program, stating, “The Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Program has been a transformative journey for our participants, providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed in today’s competitive landscape. We are proud to have played a role in empowering the youth of the North East and fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship in the region.”
Shri Lokesh Kumar Parganiha, Deputy Director (I/C DCMSME), serving as the Chief Guest for the event, commended NEHHDC for its efforts in nurturing entrepreneurship and empowering the local youth. He emphasized the importance of such programs in driving economic growth and fostering innovation in the region.
The valedictory session also showcased products developed by participants, highlighting their creativity and dedication. The program received support from various stakeholders, emphasizing collaborative efforts towards skill and entrepreneurship development and youth empowerment in the region.
As the curtains draw on this edition of the Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Program, NEHHDC reaffirms its commitment to continuing its efforts towards fostering entrepreneurship, creating employment opportunities, and driving socio-economic development in the North Eastern Region of India.
