Sunil Gavaskar calls Kapil Dev the original captain cool on 1983 World Cup win’s 40th anniversary

India celebrate their 40th anniversary of 1983 ODI World Cup win on Sunday, 25 June. On that occasion Sunil Gavaskar said that Kapil was the original captain cool of the Indian team.

Legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar has lauded Kapil Dev on India’s 40th anniversary of the 1983 World Cup win. Underdogs India defeated favourites West Indies to lift their maiden title that would change the course of cricket in the country.

Speaking to Times of India, Gavaskar compared Kapil to MS Dhoni and said that the former was the original captain cool as he carried himself with utmost calm in the field.
