The central government and the state government of Assam is promoting entrepreneurship and encouraging talents and motivating them to start their own business. Among this Assam Moonjir Alam has made into the list of top 15 self made entrepreneurs of the country.

Moonjir Alam, is an entrepreneur from Assam who is currently working in the education sector. Hailing from a small town of Assam, Moonjir completed his studies from IBS Mumbai. Post that working for 3 years as a marketing manager in Mumbai, Singapore and Dubai he started his own video marketing agency in Mumbai called Hooked Meida along with his college friend Balraj Sandhu. Through Hooked Media they have worked with some of biggest brand such as Miss India, Times of India, Diageo, Chopard to name a few.

During lockdown when he came to his hometown he felt the need of a quality senior secondary school along with NEET & JEE coaching in lower Assam. He along with his father Dr. Shamsul Alam started working on this and within 2 years he built one of the most sought after fully residential schools of Assam “Howly National Science Academy” at Howly, Barpeta. He already has more than 250 students from different parts of Assam studying in his academy, making it the fastest growing school of Assam.

Moonjir says while building the team and school my only vision was to build a school where I would love to study if I were a science student. Using his brand marketing knowledge and focusing on quality service he was able to build a school which otherwise would have taken years.

Currently Moonjir along with running the institution in Lower Assam and the video marketing agency in Mumbai, provides consultation to other schools owners, edtech founders or aspiring Entrepreneurs on growing their business with brand marketing.

All Assam Private School Association organized its Annual Conference 2022 on School Education Regulation in Assam and NEP 2020 at Rudrasagar Hall, VivantaTaj. The conference’s enlightened educators about the NEP2020 recommendations for changes in the regulatory architecture of school education identify and facilitated a platform for educators to discuss the opportunities and challenges faced in the current school education scenario in Assam and engage with key stakeholders in the implementation of the recommendations of NEP 20220

Speaking about the conference, Shri Sailesh Sarmah, President, AAPSA said, “The All Assam Private School Association protects the interest of all schools. We, as an association, try to collaborate with government institutions to formulate policies that are beneficial for all the key stakeholders associated with the school education in Assam. We believe private schools play a major role in students’ learning and development, and regulation must aim to empower private schools by safeguarding their interests with trust, as private schools are one of the key stakeholders in the progress of the education industry. The conference identifies the challenges and recommends strategies for the overall development of Assam’s schooling sector.”

Mr.Pankaj Das, Advisor AAPSA and Director, Modern English School, Kahilipara, Guwahati said, “In the field of school improvement the key is to empower the school heads and teachers. The NEP2020 implementation plan (SARTHAQ) has initiated the tasks and we hope the stipulation of State School Standard Authority (SSSA) will result in effective self-regulation or accreditation of all public, private, and philanthropic schools”

The conference was addressed by Mr.Kulbhushan Sharma, President, National Independent School, and Alliance. Three panel discussions were organized to discuss the Regulatory Framework of School Education in Assam, School Education Regulation and Standard Setting under NEP2020 and NEP2020 Implementation in Assam: Challenges and Opportunities. Industry stalwarts attended the event as key speakers namely., Shri R.C. Jain, Chairman, Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA), Mrs. Jahnabi Sarma, State Consultant (P&QI), Samagra Shiksha Assam, N. Hazel Singh Managing Trustee, Emmanuel Foundation,Emmanuel English HS School, Pailapool. Cachar. Shri D. Shashi kumar, KPMTCC, Convenor Karnataka Private School, Managements, Teaching-Non Teaching Staff Coordination Committee, Shri Sailesh Sarmah, Director, Our ABC Academy, Tinsukia, Assam, President, AAPSA. Dr.Amit Chandra, Senior Consultant at Central, Square Foundation, Dr.Prashant Narang, Senior Fellow – Research and Training Programs at Centre for Civil Society. And Mr. Pankaj Das, Advisor AAPSA and Director, Modern English School, Kahilipara, Guwahati moderated the panel discussions.

The key takeaways of the conference were the recommendations made by NEP2020 for changes to be introduced, keeping in mind the contextual reality of Assam’s current school education state and the role of private schools in the education sector.

• Big quantities of narcotic drugs valuing more than Rs 20 crore have been seized from two trucks in Mizoram and Assam, police officers of both the North-eastern states confirmed on Friday.
  2.20 kgs of heroin estimated Rs 10 crore in market was seized in the kokrajhr district of Assam, police also recovered 5 lakh tablets of Methamphetamine at Rs 10 crore, near Mizoram capital Aizawl. Police made both the seizures were Thursday and arrested two track driver Anil Kumar and the handyman Vikas Kumar in the case.
  After receiving intelligence inputs, police stopped the track at Srirampur check gate on West Bengal border and while searching , four packets of heroin were recovered from a secret chamber in the truck , Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Prateek Thube said.
  During preliminary interrogation, it was found that the truck was heading towards Jaipur Rajasthan and was coming from Senapati district of Manipur. “We have received certain clues during interrogation and will investigate them,” the Kokrajhar SP said.
  The state’s Inspector General of Police John Neihlaia said , Mizoram , said that in the biggest drug haul in Mizoram this year, police have seized 5 lakh Methamphetamine valuing Rs 10 crore. The truck was caught at Sairang village, about 20 km away from the state capital, during an operation on Thursday evening. Mantu Kumar Deb age 45 and Subhas Das age 33, both residents of Assam’s Karimganj district, were in the truck.

Zoramthanga government on Wednesday wrote to the Centre to get the neighbouring state to immediately reopen road and rail routes “owned and maintained by the government of India”.

“No state agency/entity or the general public has any right to block national highways and railway lines, restricting the movement of people and goods,” Mizoram home secretary Pi Lalbiaksangi said in her missive to Union home secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla.

Lalbiaksangi said the Silchar-Aizawl stretch of NH-306, which is the lifeline of Mizoram, had been blocked by people on the Assam side at Kabuganj in the Barak Valley. She said rail tracks had been damaged at Mohammadpur and Ramnathpur stations in Assam’s Hailakandi district, cutting off the lone railroad link to Mizoram’s Bairabi.

The landlocked state, the smallest one in the Northeast, is already facing a scarcity of essential items such as oil and rice due to the blockade.

Lalbiaksangi accused Assam, which had clamped a similar economic blockade from October 17 to November 11 last year, of “taking advantage” of the fact that all routes for supply of essential commodities to Mizoram pass through that state.

The Mizoram home secretary’s letter to the Centre contrasted with CM Zoramthanga’s appeal to rebuild the broken bridges of communication with Assam that have created multiple border flashpoints since the first failed dialogue in 1995.

Posting a video on Twitter showing three Bengali-speaking youths from the Barak Valley saying how they felt safe and comfortable in Mizoram, Zoramthanga wrote, “Our Assam brethren receiving their Covid vaccines at a Local Church hall in Aizawl. Non-Mizos from all walks of life within Mizoram are at peace. I urge everyone to remain peaceful and refrain from any sort of violence. NorthEast will always be One.”

Assam carried out 1.20 lakh tests and over 1.34 lakh tests on 28^th and 29^th of September. The state government planned to hit similar figures on Wednesday.

“Next 2 days also, we’ll conduct 1 lakh+ tests. Compliments to the team,” Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

The testing exercise covers patients in hospitals, those turning up for tests at the Covid Screening and Counselling Centres (CSCC) in the state, and contacts of those who had tested positive.

In Kamrup (Metro) district, 90 CSCCs have been opened where people can come and get tested, in addition to the various government hospitals. All government offices and institutions have been taking part in this testing exercise. “In every way possible, including through ads in TV channels and newspapers, we are requesting more and more people to come and get tested,”
