In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Stars of North East India (SoNEI) hosted its first-ever intern, Zafirah Naseeb, a second-year Mass Communication and Journalism student from Symbiosis International University, Pune. As part of her one-month internship in Guwahati, Zafirah took centre stage as the speaker of Star Talk Session 16, sharing her journey and experiences, at an event held in Guwahati on Saturday.
The internship was coordinated and supervised by SoNEI, with active support from its members who sponsored and facilitated her exposure across various sectors. Zafirah’s internship was not confined to a single domain; instead, she was immersed in a range of experiences that included: Gaining insight into operations and communications at organisations such as Don Bosco School, KBV University, Admissify, USTM, Assam Don Bosco University, Hotel Kiranshree Grand, NEHDC, and Exclusive Advertising.
Zafirah, who hails from Guwahati and aspires to build a career in advertising, described her internship as “raw, authentic, and enriching beyond the materialistic learnings that internships often offer.” She emphasised that the hands-on exposure across sectors such as public relations, advertising, back-end operations, and education has provided her with a plethora of knowledge and invaluable real-world experience.
The event was graced, among others, by Dr Mustafa Barbhuiya, Medical Director of Clinical Chemistry, Baystate Medical Centre USA and Mehbooba Begum, Joint Secretary, Legislative Department, Govt of Assam, who appreciated Zafirah’s enthusiasm and contribution during her internship.
The event was conceptualised and coordinated by Farnaaz Islam and supported by Career Grad Global.
