- Big quantities of narcotic drugs valuing more than Rs 20 crore have been seized from two trucks in Mizoram and Assam, police officers of both the North-eastern states confirmed on Friday.
2.20 kgs of heroin estimated Rs 10 crore in market was seized in the kokrajhr district of Assam, police also recovered 5 lakh tablets of Methamphetamine at Rs 10 crore, near Mizoram capital Aizawl. Police made both the seizures were Thursday and arrested two track driver Anil Kumar and the handyman Vikas Kumar in the case.
After receiving intelligence inputs, police stopped the track at Srirampur check gate on West Bengal border and while searching , four packets of heroin were recovered from a secret chamber in the truck , Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Prateek Thube said.
During preliminary interrogation, it was found that the truck was heading towards Jaipur Rajasthan and was coming from Senapati district of Manipur. “We have received certain clues during interrogation and will investigate them,” the Kokrajhar SP said.
The state’s Inspector General of Police John Neihlaia said , Mizoram , said that in the biggest drug haul in Mizoram this year, police have seized 5 lakh Methamphetamine valuing Rs 10 crore. The truck was caught at Sairang village, about 20 km away from the state capital, during an operation on Thursday evening. Mantu Kumar Deb age 45 and Subhas Das age 33, both residents of Assam’s Karimganj district, were in the truck.
