After energising cities like Lucknow, Chandigarh, Bhopal, and Visakhapatnam, the SBI Green Marathon Season 6 reached the vibrant heart of Assam — Guwahati. The Sarusajai Sports Complex came alive at dawn, turning into a dynamic field of runners, supporters, and sustainability advocates ready to champion a cleaner and greener India.
Nestled between rolling hills and the timeless flow of the Brahmaputra, Guwahati offered the perfect backdrop to uphold the marathon’s guiding philosophy — “Run for a Greener India.” The city’s deep-rooted respect for nature and its growing fitness culture amplified the event’s purpose with remarkable enthusiasm.
Over 4,000+ participants — including fitness enthusiasts, families, students, and spirited contingents from the Assam Police, Para-military forces, and Armed Forces — embraced the challenge with a shared vision: to run not just for personal achievement, but for the planet.
The marathon was proudly flagged off by respected dignitaries — Shri Prabhas Bose – Chief General Manager – Guwahati Circle, Shri Safal Tripathi – General Manager – Network 1 – Guwahati Circle, Shri Amaresh Kr Jha – General Manager Network 2 – Guwahati Circle, Shri B Maharana – MD – NEEPCO — reaffirming SBI’s commitment to inspiring communities across India toward a future shaped by sustainability and well-being.
Staying true to its sustainability-first mission, the SBI Green Marathon delivered an environmentally responsible race experience from start to finish:
• Organic T-shirts, plantable BIBs, and reusable cloth goodie bags promoted a conscious, zero-waste ethos.
• Black alkaline water, a pioneering hydration initiative, supported runner endurance and overall recovery.
• Waste Management Partner Skrap led waste segregation, recycling, and responsible disposal — with a detailed sustainability report to follow.
